Armor Sets, Protect Yourself! – Sands of Aura

Armor Sets are extremely influential in determining not only how successful you are during your exploration and combat in Sands of Aura, but how your character behaves when performing actions.

The equipment that you choose to wear will directly affect how much health and damage mitigation your character has through armor. Each piece of armor allows for the slotting of runes to further augment your statistics, and the pieces are broken up into four slots: Pants, Gloves, Chest Piece, and a Hat. Each piece of armor will natively provide you with 13 extra health and 15 extra armor at their baseline, before upgrading/forging/runing/etc.

Wearing matching pieces of armor, or “armor sets”, will grant the player certain bonuses for linking their armor. These are broken up into two different tiers of benefits. The first tier of benefits requires only two matching pieces of armor, and that allows for mixing and matching with another set. However, wearing a full four-piece set of armor will grant an enhanced version of the original benefit, whilst surrendering the ability to wear two different sets.

There are currently seven different sets the player can obtain as of patch 0.01.06, with an eighth currently in the works and anticipated to be released shortly. Today we’re going to have a look at each of the currently available sets and their benefits:

Armor Set One – Cavalier Armour Set

“The garb worn by those with the guile and skill to navigate the sandseas. To wear such well-fitted kit is also to place a target on one’s back for the scavengers and freebooters of the sandsea.”

2 Piece Bonus:

When you pick up currency increase your damage dealt by 5% for 45 seconds stacking up to 5 times.

4 Piece Bonus:

When you pick up currency increase your damage dealt by 10% for 45 seconds stacking up to 5 times.

Armor Set Two – Bellwether Armour Set

“A Bellwether guard is more a glorified alarm-raiser than a true warrior. Their armor is lightweight, allowing them to move quickly – usually away from the fight.”

2 Piece Bonus:

You have a 5% chance to avoid incoming attacks.

4 Piece Bonus:

You have a 10% chance to avoid incoming attacks.

Armor Set Three – Nomad Armour Set

“This distinctive, furred-coated garb was worn by the hermit-like Grotaani, a group of alchemic practitioners who made their home in the snow-capped mountains of Old Talamhel. Those mountaintops are now the scattered islands of the sandsea – void of both snow and the Grotaani. Perhaps their spirit for alchemy still lives within the fur-lace.”

2 Piece Bonus:

Your healing bells are 25% more effective.

4 Piece Bonus:

Your healing bells are 50% more effective.

Armor Set Four – Scalemail Armour Set

“From the Forger’s Alliance in Last Barrow comes a set of armor that’s trusted all across the sandsea. Built by a committee of master forgers, each part of the set is made with survival in mind.”

2 Piece Bonus:

Dodging into an enemy deals 0.5x weapon damage and stuns them. Has a 3-second cooldown.

4 Piece Bonus:

Dodging into an enemy deals 1x weapon damage and stuns them. Has a 3-second cooldown.

Armor Set Five – Wrapped Armour Set

“Freebooters of the sandsea wrap themselves in grainlace material for protection against the elements, as well as a means to hide their identity. The light-weave thread doesn’t offer much in ways of protection, but it keeps them nimble – which is critical for quickly boarding unsuspecting skiffs.”

2 Piece Bonus:

After dodging you take 12.5% less damage for 1 second.

4 Piece Bonus:

After dodging you take 25% less damage for 1 second.

Armor Set Six – Big Armour Set

“Those known as the Bighats once maintained the Wall of Man. Their garb was aerodynamically weaved with a rigging that, when fully equipped, would allow these daredevils to catch the wind and glide across the skies for a short distance.”

2 Piece Bonus:

On a successful parry you gain 1 spellblade charge.

4 Piece Bonus:

On a successful parry you gain 2 spellblade charge.

Armor Set Seven – Barbarian Plate Armour Set

“No armor has endured the test of time better than that of the nomadic barbarian tribes, the forebearers of Buel’sar. It’s simplistic in form, but well-proven in function. You too will endure.”

2 Piece Bonus:

Reduces poise damage by 25%.

4 Piece Bonus:

Reduces poise damage by 50%.
